About Me
I’m a master’s student in Science, Technology and Society at the University of Vienna. I’m also a freelance researcher and project lead for the NWO-funded ELSA Labs Network project in the Netherlands and the Institute for Practical ekoPhilosophy in Berlin.
Across my work and studies, I am interested in the messy, day-to-day practice of doing ethics. I study philosophy and ethics of technology, sustainability and ways of including the more-than-human, and practical and personal ethics. Professionally, I work towards understanding how to do and live ethics well, in accordance with the more-than-human world and the shifting contexts and metacrises we currently face.
Work & Approach
In practice, this means I work in AI ethics, facilitate learning and collaboration processes, and research how these methods and approaches can be made more accessible and widely used. Much of my work sits at the intersection of theory and application—thinking through ethical questions while also trying to operationalise them in real contexts.
I believe in the entanglement of the personal and political, the academic and the private, and I embrace the philosophy of Life as a Lab. Through my work at the Institute for Practical ekoPhilosophy, I research, reflect, facilitate, and experiment with alternative and novel ways of thinking, doing, and being. I’m drawn to work that requires both analytical rigour and relational intelligence, and to questions that don’t resolve neatly.
Background
Though I have German parents, I was born and raised in Alicante, Spain, where I attended a European (read: multilingual & cultural) school. After graduating, I took a gap year to work and travel and figure out my next steps. After encouragement from my wonderful mom, I moved to the Netherlands where I pursued a BA called Digital Society. My curiosity not quite satiated, I also began a second BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a double major in social sciences and humanities at University College Maastricht. After graduating I worked as an innovation manager at the Brightlands Smart Services Campus for a while before moving to Vienna to pursue my current master’s degree in Science, Technology and Society at the University of Vienna.
Outside of Work
Outside of work and study, I’m interested in loads of things including hiking, crafting, playing games, fashion, fantasy and adventure literature, travelling, and spending time with cool people. I also like to experiment with new practices, ways of thinking, or do new activities and surprise myself with the things I discover.
I also love hosting, bringing people together, and creating spaces that are a little more intentional (and a little more fun) than they strictly need to be. This often involves games, good conversations, good but slightly haphazard food, and a willingness to take things just far enough to make them interesting.
I generally tend to pick up and try out different activities and skills—some of which stick, many of which don’t—and spend as much time as possible moving, whether that’s through sports, being outdoors, or travelling.
